Create

Use this page when you want to create a new bucket with the AWS CLI or rclone.

Before you start

Make sure you already have:

  • the service endpoint URL
  • the correct region
  • an access key and secret key configured in your tool

If you still need these values, check Keys and endpoint.

Example variables

Replace the placeholders below with the values for your service.

export S3_ENDPOINT="https://<your-endpoint>"
export S3_REGION="<your-region>"
export AWS_PROFILE="<your-aws-cli-profile>"
export RCLONE_REMOTE="<your-rclone-remote>"
export BUCKET_NAME="<your-bucket-name>"
tip

Bucket name

Choose a clear bucket name that matches your application, environment, or team naming standard.

Create a bucket with AWS CLI

aws s3 mb s3://$BUCKET_NAME \
--endpoint-url "$S3_ENDPOINT" \
--region "$S3_REGION" \
--profile "$AWS_PROFILE"

After that, you can confirm the bucket was created by listing your buckets.

aws s3 ls \
--endpoint-url "$S3_ENDPOINT" \
--region "$S3_REGION" \
--profile "$AWS_PROFILE"

Create a bucket with rclone

rclone mkdir ${RCLONE_REMOTE}:$BUCKET_NAME

Then confirm it appears in the bucket list.

rclone lsd ${RCLONE_REMOTE}:

If bucket creation fails

Check these points:

  • the endpoint URL is correct
  • the region matches your service
  • the profile or remote is using the expected credentials
  • the bucket name is accepted by the service

If the command keeps failing and the portal does not make the reason clear, open a support ticket.
